Primary Insomnia:
Patient cannot fall asleep or stay asleep.
Primary Hypersomnia:
Patient has excessive sleep without any medical conditions and is sleepy during the daytime.
Narcolepsy:
Sleepiness during the daytime in which the patient can have sleep attacks (quickly falling into sleep). Is associated with REM sleep during the day, hallucinations, cataplexy, sleep paralysis.
Breathing-Related Sleep Disorder (Sleep Apnea):
Sleep disruption at night that results in day-time sleepiness.
Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorder:
Patient’s sleeping schedule does not correspond to his preferred sleeping schedule.
Dyssomnias Not otherwise Specified:
Includes Nocturnal Myoclonus (periodic leg movements) and restless leg syndrome.
