2 main types of strokes: Ischemic & Hemorrhagic

1) Ischemic — caused by clots in vessels supplying the brain (so not enough blood gets to certain parts of the brain)
2) Hemorrhagic — which is when there is a bleed.

Ischemic strokes can be managed with clot-busting drugs (tPA) or just aspirin.

With hemorrhagic strokes, the bleeding ofcourse has to be controlled and depending on the size of the bleed it may just stop on its own. It is difficult to tell if the bleeding has stopped without any imaging studies (usually MRI or CT angio).
